(a) Generally. All units installed on or after the effective date of the ordinance from which this chapter derives shall be anchored to the ground in accordance with the requirements of defense civil preparedness agency publication TR-75, Protecting Mobile Homes from High Winds, February, 1974, for a wind velocity of 90 miles per hour utilizing only a type 2 or 3 frame-tie system. Units shall be blocked vertically on piers or posts not over eight feet apart. Footings for the blockings shall be of sufficient size so as not to exceed the value of the unit soil pressure as set forth in table 18-1-A of the building code adopted in section 22-131.

(b) Exception. All manufactured homes located in areas of special flood hazards shall also be anchored to resist flotation, collapse, or lateral movement by providing over-the-top or frame ties to ground anchors. Specific requirements shall be that:

(1) Single-wide homes. Over-the-top ties will be provided at each of the four corners of the home; two additional ties per side at intermediate locations shall be required, except that homes which are less than 50 feet long shall require only one additional tie per side;

(2) Double-wide homes. Over-the-top ties will not be required, but four additional frame ties will be installed on each inner support member at equal distances.

(c) Frame ties. Frame ties shall be provided at each corner of the home with five additional ties per side at intermediate points; however, homes less than 50 feet long shall require only four additional ties per side.

(d) Additions to home. Any additions to the manufactured home shall be appropriately anchored.

(e) High wind protection. The anchorage system shall be equal to or greater than that required for high wind protection.

(f) Additional requirements for flood hazard districts. In addition to any specific requirements in this section, additional requirements for flood hazard districts shall be satisfied as provided in chapter 70 of this Code. (Code 1979, § 24-18)
