The following words and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them and as set forth in C.R.S. § 24-34-501:

Discriminate, discrimination, discriminatory practice means any difference in treatment based on one or more of the following: race, creed, color, sex, national origin, marital status, religion, ancestry or age.

Employee means and includes every person in the service of an employer, as defined in this section, under any contract of hire, express or implied, not including an elective official of the state or of any county; city; town; irrigation, drainage, school or other special district thereof; and not including any officers or enlisted personnel of the national guard of the state or the U.S. armed forces or and subdivision thereof.

Employer means and includes every person employing persons within the City.

Employment means and includes any trade, occupation, job or position or process of manufacture or any method of carrying on any such trade, occupation, job or position or process of manufacture in which any person may be engaged, except as otherwise expressly provided in this article.

Employment agency means and includes any person regularly undertaking, with or without compensation, to procure opportunities for employment or to procure, recruit, refer or place employees.

Housing means and includes any building, structure, vacant land or portion thereof, including but not limited to trailer courts, trailer parks or mobile home courts, whether constructed or to be constructed, which is used or intended for use as the residence or sleeping place of one or more persons, and any real property usable for purposes of human habitation or for the construction of facilities therefor.

Person means and includes any individual, partnership, corporation, labor organization or any person acting directly or indirectly for an employer, with the exception of any government or quasigovernmental entity or political subdivision thereof.

Place of public accommodation means and includes any educational, health, entertainment, recreational, sporting, public transportation, business or other facility of any kind whose goods, services, privileges, advantages or accommodations are extended, offered, sold or otherwise made available to the general public or which receives financial support through contributions of the general public or through government subsidy of any kind.
