(a) If an officer sought to be recalled shall offer his or her resignation at any time prior to certification of the ballot, it shall be accepted, and the vacancy caused by such resignation shall be filled as provided by the Charter for filling vacancies. The person appointed to fill such vacancy shall hold the vacated office until the next regular municipal election at which the office would be voted on.

(b) If an officer resigns after a petition seeking his or her recall has been filed, that individual will be ineligible to serve on the council until the next council member election is held and shall be ineligible to receive reimbursement under section 54-77.

(c) Any recall election which has been scheduled may be cancelled by the city council at any time prior to certification of the ballot if each elected officer sought to be recalled shall offer his or her resignation at any time prior to certification of the ballot. If such resignation shall not occur in sufficient time prior to certification of the ballot for the council to meet and cancel the election, the city council may delegate to the city clerk the authority to cancel the recall election.

(d) Notice of such cancellation shall be published, in order to inform the electors of the city and notice of such cancellation shall be posted in the city clerk's office and on the City's website.

(e) If more than one elected officer is sought to be recalled at a scheduled recall election and one or more, but fewer than all, of the elected officers resign prior to certification of the ballot, the city council shall direct the city clerk to take appropriate action to conform the various ward or at-large ballots to reflect such a situation.
