(a) The following system shall be utilized for numbering of internal units of all multi-family residential buildings and all nonresidential buildings with units with only internal access:

(1) The lowest level of units shall be numbered beginning with the number 100 or 101, and continuing in increments of one number per unit. In the event there are more than 100 units on a single floor, the numbering shall begin with the number 1000 or 1001 and continue in increments of one number per unit.

(2) The second level of units shall be numbered beginning with the number 200 or 201, and continuing in increments of one number per unit. In the event there are more than 100 units on the second level, numbering shall begin with the number 2000 or 2001 and continue in increments of one number per unit.

(3) All additional upper floors shall be similarly numbered.

(b) The unit numbers shall be placed on the door of each unit or apartment or adjacent thereto, using a contrasting color from that of the door or the surrounding walls. (Code 1979, § 34-133; Ord. No. 2015-45, § 1, 10-12-2015)
