(a) Under this article, commencing November 15, 1985, any member who has 20 years or more of credited service, regardless of age, may retire. If such member elects to retire, he or she shall submit his or her written application to the board setting forth the date upon which he or she desires to be retired. Such member shall be entitled to a pension as provided in subsection 102-248.

(b) Commencing November 15, 1985, any member of the police department who has attained the age of 55 years shall be entitled to a pension as set forth in section 102-248. (Code 1979, § 15-91; Ord. No. 2015-43, § 1, 10-12-2015)
