(a) It shall be unlawful for any person in the custody of a peace officer, city marshal, detention officer, or a person duly empowered with police authority to escape or attempt to escape from such custody.

(b) It shall be unlawful for any person being held in custody or confinement following conviction of an ordinance violation to knowingly escape from the place of custody or confinement. (Code 1979, § 27-25; Ord. No. 95-52, exhibit A (§ 27-25), 9-11-1995)
