The International Fire Code, section 907.2.9 is here by amended by adding section 907.2.9.4 to read as follows:

907.2.9.4 Remote annunciator alarm panel for multi-family complexes. Where more than one multi-family (R-2) structure is proposed within a site the fire alarm systems shall be integrated in the following manner.

(a) Each multi-family structure is required to be separately numerical addressed and equipped with either a remote annunciator or control unit that is directly looped into a Master Fire Alarm Control Panel located within the leasing office, club house or pre-designated location approved by the Fire Chiefs designated Fire/Life Safety representative with the Building Division.

(b) The control unit or remote annunciator panel shall:

(1) Be located within a heated fire riser room with an exterior door providing access to the fire alarm and fire riser equipment. The fire riser room will be equipped with the following:

a. A riser room sign on the exterior door reading "Fire Riser and Alarm Room".

b. A Knox box will be located within close proximity to the exterior riser room door between 4' and 6' from grade.

(2) Provide monitored smoke detector above the panel.

(3) The remote annunciator or control unit shall report to the master panel. The master panel shall report to the monitoring agency with only the address of the building in alarm, not with the address of the master panel (unless the alarm originated at that location).

(4) The remote annunciator or control unit shall be capable of displaying a separate zone for each floor, smoke detection, manual pull stations, flow switch, etc. as required.

(5) Be capable of silencing the horns while leaving the strobes flashing in the event of an alarm.

(6) The remote annunciator or control unit shall have the ability to reset the master fire alarm control panel without having to physical go to the master panel.
