Section R803.2 of the IRC is amended to add the following:
All new roof sheathing for type R occupancies shall be a minimum of 15/32 -inch exterior performance rated panels, rated for such use, and applied pursuant to the requirements of the International Residential Code or equal as approved by the chief building official.
