The Aurora Youth Commission shall:

(1) Advise the department of library and recreation, the city manager, and the city council on matters pertaining to youth and youth interests in Aurora;

(2) Submit annually to the city manager and to city council, a progress report on its activities, in addition to any other youth matters of concern to city council;

(3) Make recommendations and advise the department director, the city manager, and the city council on specific issues, problems, and options involving youth activities in the community;

(4) Recommend new programs, initiatives, and resources for youth;

(5) Review those city matters referred to it by the city council or department and, as appropriate, make recommendations on those matters;

(6) Enlist the cooperation of all segments of the community in being more responsive to the youth community;

(7) Encourage, recognize, and promote the value of young people in our community;

(8) Serve as a resource regarding youth and youth issues for city council, city manager, and/or the department director;

(9) Be a resource for recruiting youth involvement in projects and events related to youth;

(10) Promulgate rules for the establishment of offices and committees and prepare bylaws for their operation, subject to city council approval;

(11) Exercise such powers and duties as may be assigned from time to time by the city council. (Ord. No. 2000-07, § 1, 2-14-2000)
