The commission for older adults shall have the power to advise the city council concerning the following issues and objectives:

(1) Identification of existing services and unmet needs of older adults.

(2) Establishment of task force committees and lobbying and advocacy services to address unmet needs.

(3) Monitoring of legislation affecting the quality of life for older adults and providing support to local, state and federal governments in their efforts to improve the quality of life for older adults.

(4) Recommendation of plans of action to assist in meeting the needs and concerns of older adults.

(5) Establishing a cooperative role with existing service providers in the city.

(6) Developing an effective public relations program communicating the needs of older adults. (Code 1979, § 8-145; Ord. No. 2021-18, § 4, 5-24-2021)
