(a) There is created a commission for older adults in recognition of the commitment of the city council to the older adults of the city and of the city policy to maintain a quality of life for its older adults.

(b) The purpose of the commission is to support existing programs for older adults and to foster the development of new programs through a lobbying and advocacy role.

(c) In recognition of its commitment to the older adults of the city, the city council pledges to support the concerns of its older adults in the following areas: housing, transportation, health and nutrition, recreational and educational opportunities and legal, legislation and cost containment issues.
