All vehicles, goods and chattels purchased at any sale in conformity with the requirements of this subdivision shall be removed from the custody and premises of the City, by the purchaser, within five days thereafter. If any purchaser fails to remove the property within such time, a reasonable daily storage charge shall be imposed and collected by the police department. If the property is not removed within a ten-day period from the date of the sale, the purchaser shall be deemed to have forfeited all right to possession of the property and shall forfeit any and all monies paid therefor as liquidated damages for storage of the property. Any property not removed by the purchaser within the ten-day period may be included in any subsequent auction or destroyed at the discretion of the chief of police. (Code 1979, § 2-33)
