The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

Director of public works means the director of public works or designee.

Roadway means that portion of a street or highway improved, designed, or ordinarily used for vehicular travel, exclusive of the shoulder.

Secondary street means any street which is not marked "snow emergency route."

Snow emergency means a condition deemed to exist by the city manager or his or her designated representative upon the recommendation of the director of public works due to the effect or forecasted effect of climatic conditions upon the surface of roadways within the City.

Snow emergency routes means those streets marked as such in accordance with the provisions of this article.

Street or highway means the entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained and open to the use of the public, as a matter of right, for the purposes of vehicular travel. (Code 1979, § 37-50; Ord. No. 2016-34, § 9, 8-8-2016)
