(a) Generally. Certificates of qualification shall be renewed every three years from date of original issuance. The building inspection division shall have the authority to authorize the renewal and reissuance of a certificate, and the certificate holder shall not be required to take the examination, provided the certificate holder has been actively engaged as a qualified supervisor in the particular category for which the certificate was issued during the three-year period from date of issuance.

(b) Renewal fee. The certificate holder shall pay to the City a renewal fee applicable to those enumerated in accordance with the schedule of fees recommended by the chief building official and approved by the city manager.
